Top 5 Fall Must-Haves

1. The boot-cuff. These are worn on your leg like a leg-warmer, but shorter and peaking above your boot. You stay stylish and warm in the fall, then it keeps snow out in the winter.

2. The infinity scarf. Gorgeous and soft; this scarf is perfect to keep you warm both outside and in the workplace. It doesn't hang long like a traditional scarf, and can wrap around your neck twice, comfortably.

3. The ear-warmer headband. Perfect transitional piece, taking you from bonfires to blizzards. Plus, it is appropriate for all ages.

4. The travel mug cozy. Keeps your hands protected from the steaming hot beverages inside your travel mug. Customized for you. Easy to clean and reduces cardboard waste. Awesome way to start the day.

5. Fall-back your clocks with an eyemask. Between late nights back at school, or pulling late nights at work, you need your beauty sleep. Keep the light out and get a better night sleep, and look adorable doing it.

Delayed Labor Day

Anything that could go wrong, has gone wrong. At least for my husband and I, over the course of the last couple of weeks. From the minor things of Ally missing job ops and my car engine light turning on (with the mechanic always closed!), to a major extermination. I have been struggling to stay upbeat and positive. The final straw was when I found my husband in a diabetic hypo on Thursday night, resulting in my first true 911 call and a couple of nights spent in ICU. When it rains, it pours.

We were supposed to go to North Carolina over Labor Day Weekend. Alasdair was devastated that our plans fell through. To get his mind off of things, we went local. He has a fascination with the American Civil War, because he never learned about in growing-up in Scotland. We went to Manassas and learned about Stonewall Jackson. It was really hot out, but it was really nice to get out and about. Clear our heads and spend quality time together.

After we looked at the Civil War Memorials on the battle ground of Bull Run, we relaxed with a glass of wine at the delicious Bull Run Winery. It turned out to be a great day.
